TRUSTED BY THESE WELL KNOWN BRANDS AND HUNDREDS MORE.
Ealing Studios were founded in 1904 and are the oldest film studios in continuous production in the world. Their heyday arrived when Michael Balcon became Head in 1938, lasting until 1955, when the BBC took over for the next forty years. But nothing can surpass the charm and achievement of the Ealing comedies. These very British films were enriched by the high calibre of their ensembles of superb character actors and supporting players: such as Dennis Price, Joan Greenwood, Cecil Parker and Stanley Holloway. If one actor stands out among such consummate performers, it must be the great Alec Guinness, whose class and quiet underplaying runs through Kind Hearts and Coronets, The Man in the White Suit and The Ladykillers. No wonder these remain among the best - and best loved - of all British movies. |
